News #ProudtoSupport and #LoveSouthTyneside recognised in North East awards

Thanks to you, #ProudtoSupport and #LoveSouthTyneside have achieved four gold and silver awards in the North East CIPR PRide awards, which recognises the outstanding work of communications professionals across the North East.

#ProudtoSupport was launched in April 2020 to celebrate the work of special people during the coronavirus pandemic. Public and third sector partners, businesses, groups and individuals joined together to support our neighbours, our most vulnerable residents and our essential workers who continued to deliver essential services.

The campaigns were awarded:

  • Gold for #ProudtoSupport in the low budget category
  • Gold for #LoveSouthTyneside in the Community Relations category
  • Silver for #ProudtoSupport in the Best use of Digital and Social Media category
  • Silver for #ProudtoSupport in the Best COVID Response category

This success showcases South Tyneside’s fantastic community spirit. For many of our communities, the pandemic brought challenges. From coping in self-isolation, managing health and wellbeing concerns, or financial hardship.

Personal stories include Josh Trueman who made mask clips for the NHS, Fhiza Leonard who supplied care packages and hot meals, Phil Hartley who installed vital medical pipelines in the region’s new Nightingale Hospital, our schools for looking after children of key workers and vulnerable pupils in the community and many, many more.

Congratulations to everyone and thank you most of all to the special people who while we were physically apart, helped South Tyneside join together, more than ever, as a community.
